Dear Readers,
I took a NyQuil last night.
I took a NyQuil last night and didn’t notice when I plugged in my phone that it wasn’t actually charging.
I took a NyQuil last night so when I woke up this morning and my alarm hadn’t rung and the sun was streaming through the windows I was disoriented.
I took a NyQuil last night so I was slightly hysterical when I looked at my dead phone and couldn’t tell what time it was so I rushed into my son’s room and woke him up and made him tell me it was 7:45 and since I have to be at school no later than 7:55 we were VERY LATE.
This NyQuil and Lateness fueled hysteria bled into my phone calls with my husband: “NO DON’T COME HOME PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL RIGHT NOW” and our saint of a school secretary when I got a smidgen of battery power: “MY ALARM DIDN’T GO OFF AMANDA OH MY GOSH CAN SOMEBODY BE IN MY ROOM THERE’S A READ ALOUD BOOK ON MY DESK I WAS GOING TO READ” before she calmed me down with a, “We’ll have someone cover until you get here,” in the sweetest, most soothing voice.
All I can say is, the third week of school plus a cold has me disoriented and discombobulated and now, disgruntled.
Please forgive me, I’ll get it together next week. Probably.
Thanks for reading.
Love, Susie
I love that you can write about a crazy mishap - cuz really, that's all it was - and still make me smile! Who among us hasn't screwed up our days/times/clocks... Thanks for sharing with all of us your humanness
Dear Susie
We've all been there are often are rescued by kind and understanding fellow humans.
You and your writing make me smile whether disheveled or tidily arranged.
Thank you.
